Married in October of 2007 Stacie was the quintessential Flirty Bride and used her own wedding as an opportunity to bring to life her vision of what a flirty bride is, and how much fun she should have, both planning her own wedding and at the wedding itself.

A Marriage License Witness... Surprise!

Share |

I think it's fair to say the typical witnesses who sign a marriage license are either family or the Best Man and Maid of Honor.

So what to do if you're looking for a flirty twist? Inspiration struck my fiance while we were meeting with our officiate Reverend Ed Holt, affectionately nicknamed "Reverend Holitnator" by my hubby. As he asked us who would sign the license my hubby proclaimed "I have an idea!" We listened and laughed. It was a very funny idea.

So here's what we did. At the conclusion of our ceremony, before the recessional Rev. Holt made an announcement to our guests... He said that "Usually the two people who are signing the marriage license are predetermined before the ceremony begins but tonight is very special... Tonight you ALL have a chance at being one of the two lucky "winners" of who will sign John and Stacie's marriage license." He then instructed all of our guests to "Look under your chairs and two of you will find pens taped beneath..."

Maureen was one of our lucky witnesses who had sat on a pen and our friend Heather found the other. Our guests loved it and everyone had a great laugh at our unique twist.

While not appropriate for a church wedding, if your wedding is in a less traditional setting this may be a fun, flirty and unexpected idea to try.

This is beautiful. My niece would love to carry something like this. Know anywhere to buy something like what you made?

Enjoy,
Kara

Hi Kara,

Sorry but I don't know of anyone who sells a basket like this.

My best suggestion would be make one. You could find an inexpensive beaded lamp shade, like for a night light or a chandelier.

• Turn it upside down
• Add a handle
• Create a false bottom using a piece of cardboard covered in a pretty colored fabric that matches the beading. I would use some 28 gauge craft wire to secure the bottom in place.
• Add embellishments like the paper and beaded flowers here or silk flowers and ribbon

It would be a much faster process then making the basket from scratch :)

Let me know if you need help. I can always create a photo tutorial for you.

This is absolutely the most beautiful and unique flower girl's basket I've ever seen!!! I'm can't wait to share with my daughter who is getting married in July! I hope she loves it as much as I do (so I can start shopping for a silver/crystal shade)!

Aw thanks G Beth. Be sure to send me a picture if you make one. I'd love to feature it on The Flirty Blog!
