Volunteerism is a great thing. Whether you're raising hope, awareness or money for a worthy cause or a specific group of people, animals or the planet, the main thing is that you are helping others in need and YOU are making a difference. If you can support an existing cause, great! If you don't meet their criteria in some way but still want to help, start your own effort or organization!
We invite you to learn about causes we at The Flirty Guide support and care about and hope you will too:
Armando Sarabia Supports:
The San Francisco Aids Foundation In 2003 Armando supported The San Francisco Aids Foundation by training with them and running in the Honolulu Marathon. He thought it was a great way to do some fundraising for his local community. The interesting thing is that Armando was not a runner. His goal was to raise the minimum $2500 and secretly he wondered if he could complete the 26.2 mile run. Then he started seeing the fundraising dollars add up. Loose change and $5.00 and 10.00 donations added up very quickly for him. In total he was able to raise over $7000 which made him realize he was going to have to complete the run. When he saw on the SFAF website all of the education, services, advocacy work and global efforts that the foundation does he says he felt like the 26.2 miles he would be running were a small contribution in comparison to the efforts of everyone else involved in the organization.
In 2005 he took on an even bigger challenge and signed up for another SFAF fundraising event:
Lifecycle IV, a 545 mile road bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. He trained hard and completed the ride on his first attempt.
